Heather the Hut

A measured response to the North York Moors National Park Authority

Before Christmas, Heather the Hut was scoping out her potential new home in the hamlet of Rosedale East, a stone’s throw from her previous location.

Since then, further investigation has taken place and measurements have been made and, with the owner’s consent, a pre-application enquiry has been made to the nice folks at the North York Moors National Park Authority.

She eagerly awaits news of her future.

If planning permission is succesful, she hopes to be located in the grounds of 15 School Row, an end-of-terrace property in the beautiful hamlet of Rosedale East. Once used to house workers of the former Rosedale East Ironstone mines, this achingly beautiful setting is now a haven of tranquility.

The owner, Lorrie, is a keen gardener and has spent considerable time and money creating her own little oasis amongst the rolling hills of the North York Moors.

When approached by Heather to share some of her sumptuous surroundings, Lorrie was only too happy to help.

She was keen to point out that, if succesful, Heather’s future guests would have the ‘run of the place’, free to stay secluded amongst the beech trees (Heather’s intended location), listening to the sounds of the babbling brook or venture into the summer house with a good book or even head to the patio for a barbecue.

However, let’s not get ahead or ourselves!
There is still the matter of Heather convincing the North York Moors National Park that her new location would be an asset to her community and she is determined to get it right this time.
So, let’s hope that they look upon her Pre-application Enquiry favourably and proceed to the next step of Planning Permission.

In the meantime, whilst she waits for a news on her new home, she can’t rest on her laurels. From her ‘dry dock’ work continues apace to make her fit and ready for the big move, when it comes.

Most recently, she had new ventilation fitted in response to guests’ request for more airflow to help combat cooking smells and condensation.

It all goes towards providing guests with their perfect stay in Splendid Seclusion.
