#FindHeatherAHome update & improved Rosedale Ramble!

Huge thanks for your interest in the hunt for Heather’s new home!

Heather’s supporters have been asking how her planning permission application is going so her latest blog post serves as an updateon the process so far. It also serves as a reminder of the Rosedale Ramble, a guided walk to the village and back that Heather has offered guests in the past and hopes to do so from her new home.

Has Heather found her new home?

Almost by accident, Heather the Hut has built an engaged community of followers who share a passion for exploring nature and the great outdoors. The question on all of their lips? ‘Has Heather found her new home?’

Amendments are to be made with landowner

Following consultation with The North York Moors National Park Authority, their recommendation regarding the site at Rosedale East is that she is set deeper into the garden and away from Alders Road.

Problems? No problems for us!

This would see her better screened amongst the wider (and wondrous!) landscape. A concern was how undue noise may be managed. But, with the landowner on-site and her host nearby, this fear has been allayed.

Her 'forever home' is not far away now!

It is, at times, frustrating to have to go through the planning permission process and for Heather not to be able to take bookings. However, she recognises the importance of the impact on her neighbours and the local environment. Her approach to sustainable tourism has, since the start, been to minimise any disturbance to the scenic space in which she resides. Evidence of this was her and her ‘Loo with a View’s swift removal from their previous home at Hancow Road, leaving the grounds very much as they were found.

The advantage of Heather’s new ‘forever home’ being located within the confines of a private residence is that permission is more likely to be granted provided particular criteria is met. She is determined to do what it takes to meet these challenges and provide many more enjoyable experiences to guests in one of the most beautiful corners of our planet. Her patience and preparedness will prevail!

Meanwhile, lots of people have been messaging and wishing Heather well so, as always, she promises to keep her supporters up to speed with updates on securing her new space. And, ‘thank-you’ for your kind and motivational words!

On another note, the ‘Rosedale Ramble’ is ready to welcome walkers of all abilities!

Last weekend, Heather’s host, Jonathan, tested the route for the ‘Rosedale Ramble’ starting and ending in Heather’s new location. The ‘Rosedale Ramble’ is a 3 hour, circular, guided walk through the local landscape with time for a tea break in the beautiful village of Rosedale Abbey.

Basic equipment required

This moderate trek takes little in the way of preparation or equipment. All you need is a comfy pair of ankle supporting shoes, some sustenance and a willingness to soak up the superb scenery!

To suit all abilities

Walking for just over an hour on gently undulating terrain down from Heather’s new site, we stop to rehydrate in the village centre. Then, suitably satiated, set off for an easy stroll back.

Available all year round!

The route is ready for you whenever Heather is open for business. So, pretty much, all year round. You can enjoy an early start on a still summer’s morning or a snowy crunch on a winter’s afternoon!

Heather the Hut looks forward to welcoming you back as soon as she can!

The arrival of spring serves as a reminder that Heather would usually be busy taking bookings and looking forward to welcoming guests to the beautiful North York Moors. Nevertheless, it is said that all good things come to those who wait and patience is a virtue. Add in some hard work and persistence and she has a recipe for success. It won’t be long now. A few tweaks to the plan, on-going communication with the National Park and positively received planning permission should see Heather the Hut back in business in no time!
